    Pastors for NC Children is an organization dedicated to helping faith communities across North Carolina support our public schools. The organization focuses on the root causes of deficiencies in school policy, financing and resource allocation.     Leandro Case Action Plan – The State of North Carolina commissioned the WestEd consulting group to prepare an action plan for compliance with the Leandro court case. Download the report here.

  • ED05 Leandro Case

    Leandro Case Overview– In 1994, five poor school systems sued the State, seeking both a declaration that the State had failed to meet its constitutional duties to provide equal educational opportunities for all students and a court-imposed remedy to correct the violation. In 2000, Superior Court Judge Howard Manning ruled that the State had failed to provide at-risk students with the opportunity to obtain a sound basic education and ordering a remedy of providing pre-kindergarten to at-risk students. This website provides background and current status of this important court case.

  • Every Child NC – Lead with Leandro Campaign

    As the legislative session began, Every Child NC wrote to Governor Cooper on March 3, 2021 asking him to craft his budget toward fulfilling recommendations of the WestEd task force. Education advocates are encouraged to email the governor, asking him to ‘Lead with Leandro.’
